C3a and C3d
C3a is a 77 amino acid peptide with the random coiled C-terminus and defined helical N terminus7,8. C3a is an anaphylotoxin, it is a cleavage product of the major complement protein C31.
C3d has an acidic residue with elctronegative depression, which is away from the antigen binding site. This depression can bind to the receptor with electropositive in nature 9. C3d is critical for enhance B cell responses, it is produced by cleavage of C3b.
