Home » Peptide » Catalog Peptides » C5a-Related Peptides

C5a is an anaphylotoxin, it leads to the release of histamines from the mast cells 1. C5a is the fragment from the complement protein C5. The C5a is metabolished rapidly by the serum enzyme (carboxypeptidase B) to a 73 amino acid form: C5a des-Arg1.

In human cells, C5a contains 74 amino acids, the molecule has four helices and loops connecting the helices. On N-terminus, there is a short 1.5 turn helix. The longest helix-IV develop three disfulfide bonds with helix II and III.
