CEF Peptides
The CEF control peptides contain 8-12 amino acids in length, with sequences originated from the human Cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr Virus and Influenza Virus. CEF peptides have antigenic qualities because they are derived from virus epitopes. These peptides were initially chosen due to their capacity to recognize CD8+ T cells. They are used to stimulate IFNγ release from CD8+ T cells in individuals with specific HLA types. As a result, CEF peptides are considered as effective epitopes of CD8+ T cells, which bind to them and trigger the production of IFNγ.
In Elispot assay, CEF control peptides are employed as positive control to examine certain immune responses in a range of diseases, including infections, cancer, allergies and autoimmune diseases. The activity and vitality of the cells under study can be ensured by CEF peptides in this instance. Elispot can also be used to develop vaccines, particularly against HIV, where controls in the form of CEF peptides are also employed.
