Endomorphin
Endomorphins are natural opioid neurotransmitters and central to pain relief. The two common endomorphins are endomorphin-1 and endomorphin-2. They are tetrapeptides with Tyr-Pro-Trp-Phe and Tyr-Pro-Phe-Phe amino acid sequences respectively. The endomorphine-like immunoreactivity is within the central and peripheral nervous systems, endomorphin-1 is concentrated in the brain and upper brainstem, while endomorphin-2 is in the spinal cord and lower brainstem.
