Fibrinogen
Fibrinogen is a glycoprotein complex, it is produced in the liver and circulates in blood of all vertebrates. In tissue and vascular injury, it converts to fibrin enzymatically by thrombin, then to a fibrin blood clot. Fibrin can reduces and binds the activity of thrombin, and also mediates blood platelet spreading, tissue fibroblast proliferation, capillary tube formation.
Fibrinogen is a positive acute-phase protein, its blood levels increase according to systemic inflammation, tissue injury.
