Helodermin
Helodermin is a peptide in the Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum). It is a vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)-like peptide in the salivary gland venom of lizard. Helodermin has high sequence similarity with vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), peptide histidine isoleucine (PHI) and secretin in the N-terminal moiety.
Helodermin is a basic pentatriacontapeptide amide, it has high level of sequence similarities to secretin/ VIP/ PHI/ (PHM)/ GRF over the entire N-terminal 1-27 sequence.
