Hydrins are found from neurointermediate pituitary glands of Xenopus laevis and Rana esculenta, it is active on water permeability for frog urinary bladder and frog skin. These peptides are derived from the pro-vasotocin-neurophysin precursor.

Hydrin 1 has vasotocin with the Gly-Lys-Arg sequence in C-terminus, it is found in Xenopus. Hydrin 2 has vasotocin with glycine in C-terminus, it is found in Rana.
