Laminins are glycoproteins with common and specific functions, the most important function is to interact with anchored receptors in the plasma membrane, then regulate multiple cellular activities and signaling pathways. Laminins are critical to biological activity, affecting cell differentiation, migration, and adhesion.

Laminins are heterotrimetic proteins with molecular weight of 400 to 900 kDa, they poss three different chains of α, β and γ. the laminin molecules are normally named according to the chain composition.
