Luteinizing Hormone-Releasing Hormone
Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone(LHRH, LH-RH) is a hormone secreted by the hypothalamus. It stimulates the brain to secrete the luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). It is also called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH).
LHRH is a hypothalamic hormone, it controls the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in the pituitary gland. It has interaction with specific G-protein-coupled receptors, then stimulates the secretion of gonadotropins. LH-RH is not only a neurohormone, but also a neurotransmitter or neuromodulator.
