β-Lipotropin is a 90-amino acid polypeptide, it is the carboxyl-terminal fragment of POMC(pro-opiomelanocortin). β-Lipotropin also can be cleaved into smaller peptides, γ-lipotropin, β-MSH, and β-endorphin are possible fragment. β-Lipotropin is  regarded as a prohormone, it can greatly affect mood and behavior.
