Metamorphosin A
Metamorphosin A (MMA) peptide is a neuropeptide, which is isolated originally from the anthozoan Anthopleura elegantissima triggers metamorphosis in Hydractinia echinata.
MMA is a oligopeptide with composition of pGlu-Gln-Pro-Gly-Leu-Trp-NH2. It can induce the isolated posterior parts in metamorphosis, then reactivate pattern formation, cell proliferation, cell differentiation, and morphogenesis. This peptide is part of internal signaling system in control of metamorphosis.
