Motilin is a 22-amino-acid polypeptide in the motilin family, it is secreted by endocrine Mo cells. These cells are numerous in crypts of small intestine, duodenum and jejunum. Based on the amino acid sequence, motilin is unrelated to other hormones, it can stimulate gastric activity, and also be identified in the gastrointestinal tracts and central nervous system.
