Peptide YY (PYY) is a peptide in human, which is encoded by the PYY gene. It is also known as peptide tyrosine tyrosine. Peptide YY is a 36-amino acid peptide, it is released from the ileum and colon cells. It has regulation in response to feeding. In the blood, gut, other elements of periphery, PPY can reduce appetite. While once inject directly into the central nervous system, PYY is anorexigenic and reduces appetite.

Peptide YY is a critical gut hormone, which is synthesized and secreted by the grastrointestinal tract. It is a straight chain polypeptide, PYY has structural homology with neuropeptide Y(NPY), pancreatic polypeptide(PP).
