Renin Substrate
Renin substrate is found in extracts of kidney cortex, it acts in the alpha-2 globulin fraction of plasma to secret the decapeptide hypertensin I. This peptide is degraded to vasoconstrictor octapeptide hypertension II by a plasma enzyme. Vasoconstrictor octapeptide hypertension II is the effector substance of renin-hypertensin pressor system 1.
