SAP
Sperm activating peptide (SAP) is a decapeptide (GFDLNGGGVG), it is isolated from the solubilized jelly layer of the sea urchin. It can stimulate the respiration and motility of H. pulcherrimus spermatozoa. In addition, It also can produce different biological effect on the spermatozoa, including:
- Increase of cAMP and cGMP levels
- Activation of Na+/H+ exchange system
- Increase in intracellar pH and Ca2+
Sperm-activating peptides (SAP) are synthesized in the granules of accessory cells of ovary at early developmental stage. Then secreted to the accessory cells and deposited in the surroundings of the oocyte.
Notice: All peptides are only for research purposes, Not for clinical use.
