Secretin
Secretin is a peptide hormone with 27 amino acids, the sequence is similar to GIP (gastric inhibitory peptide), VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide), and glucagon. Secretin can regulate water homeostasis and influence the duodenum. It is secreted by the S cells of duodenum in the intestinal glands, then acts on the pancreas to stimulate the release of bicarbonate and water.
Secretin can regulate water homeostasis throughout the body and influence the duodenum environment. It also can regulate the secretion in stomach, pancreas and liver.
