Tachykinin Related Peptide
Tachykinin peptides are found from amphibians to mammals, they are one of the largest neuropeptide family. Tachykinins can excite neurons, evoke behavior response, contract smooth muscles.
Tachykinin-related peptides (TRPs) have a C-terminal -FX1GX2Ramide motif (X1, X2 variable of either Aromatic or Aliphatic amino acid), which is slight resemblance to vertebrate tachykinins and neurokinins. Preprotachykinins are precursor proteins encoded by tachykinin gene, which can be chopped apart into smaller peptides by posttranslational proteolytic processing.
